Deighton's work for Andre Deutsch

Examples of Deighton's covers for the Deutsch book catalogue

Andre Deutsch, a Hungarian emigré, set up one of the UK's pre-eminent publishing houses in 1952, and Deighton worked for the company on a contract basis for a number of years, not just on covers but on company promotional activity, such as these catalogues. Each contained information about that season's forthcoming books from the company and the covers all carry Deighton's distinct line style.

The Arnold Deutsch archives - from which these catalogues come - are available to view in both the Brookes University, Oxford, and the archives of the University of Cincinnatti. Both contain a fair bit of information about Deighton's contribution.
